Orientation 
TFE Training Analysis

Before a new client begins working with a personal trainer on a regular basis, it is important to gather basics about your body and goals. We call this the orientation session. To do this we use the TFE Training Analysis*, which has three specific components:

  1. Functional Mobility Analysis: A modified functional mobility analysis assesses muscular weakness and imbalances. Through genetics and repetitive movement such as running, cycling, typing at a computer, or driving, we develop imbalances that affect mobility over time. Through a series of simple movements, we can discover how to ‘fix’ the imbalances by strengthening weak muscles.
  2. Body Composition Analysis: A body composition analysis helps to determine a baseline body composition to help assess current fitness levels. This includes weight, height, BMI (body mass index), and body fat percentage. Using these metrics, we can construct measurable goals and assess progress.
  3. Goal Setting Session: A goal setting session with both a nutrition and fitness component. By developing SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time-bound) goals, around daily nutrition and current fitness levels, we can create a plan that will enable TFE clients to achieve success.

​*The TFE Coaching Analysis is similar to TFE Training Analysis, and will also include seasonal race goal development and performance nutritional advice. In addition, sport-specific analysis can be conducted on an as- needed basis (i.e., a video gait analysis for runners and triathletes, stroke analysis for triathletes, etc.)
